Hasankeyf Höyük is located about 2 km east of the well knwon medieval site of Hasankeyf, in the Batman province, Turkey. It is one of several comparable early Holocene sites (Demirköy, Körtik Tepe, Gusir Tepe, Hallan Çemi) which have been excavated during the Batman dam and Ilisu dam rescue excavation programmes. The early Holocene layers were covered only by emphemeral Iron Age and Hellenistic occupations, that's why they are quite well preserved with walls up to one meter height. 

The radiocarbon data of the site show that the occupation started latest around 9400 calBC and lasted until 8900 calBC. The dates of the lower layers, structures 1, 2, and 8, range almost between 9400 and 9200 calBC on the early Holocene Plateau. One date (MTC-16070) might point to a Younger Dryas occupation, but could also be an old wood effect. 
The upper layer (Structure 3 and Square H12) has been dated only by one radiocarbon date (MTC-16069) so far. It tends to be slightly younger than the other dates, but overlaps strongly with them.
