Acknowledgements

The Ba‘ja Neolithic Project thanks the Department of Antiquities and its director-general, Dr. Fawwaz al-Kharaysheh, for the support to carry out the seventh season of excavation at the site. Talal Hamd al-Amareen was of great support to our mission as the government‘s representative. Thanks go also to Suleiman Farajat and Muhammad Marahleh from the Petra Archaeological Park, and to Mikkel Bille, Beidha. We acknowledge the help of Bo Dahl Hermansen in preparing the season; unfortunately other academic obligations will prevent his participation in following seasons in Ba‘ja. This season’s success was greatly helped by the extraordinary engagement of Dr. Jürgen Baumgarten (Max Planck Institute for Human Development, square supervisor and al-Amareen Social Change Documentation Project); Christoph Purschwitz and Jana Rogasch (Free University of Berlin, square supervisors); Ayshe Abu Laban, Pia Nielsen, Anne Mette Harpelund, and Lene Hagedorn Rasmussen (Carsten Niebuhr Institute, Copenhagen University, square supervisors); Talal Hamd al-Amareen (Department of Antiquities, square supervisor). Our warm gratitude also goes to our workmen from Bir Dabaghat and Beidha villages, and from the Beidha area, and to the many villagers in Beidha and their ever wonderful hospitality. We welcomed more than 170 guests, among them the participants of two conferences and one university class. Dr. Bernhard Lucke, pedologist of Cottbus Technical University, helped with fruitful discussions on the intra- and off-site paleosols. We thank Christoph Purschwitz for editing the illustrations of this contribution, as well as Boris Borowski who made the original top plan of Area B used in Fig. 2. Our sincere gratitude is extended discretely to the sponsors of the 2007 season.
